August 2024

 Dear West Boylston Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! The first day of classes for grades 1-12 is Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Kindergarten students will return on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 and Preschool will begin on Thursday, September 5th.

Our custodial and maintenance staff have been working to prepare the buildings for everyone’s return. Their efforts should not go unnoticed as the work over the humid summer months is demanding and can take its toll. Extensive interior painting at Major Edwards was also completed. The cafeteria, T Wing and stairwells have been brightened!

The West Boylston Middle High School administrative team for 2024-’25 will be Chris Fournier, Principal and Amy Smith, Assistant Principal. Amy served as half time assistant principal last year, sharing responsibilities with Nancy Khalaf, who has accepted an assistant principal position at Holliston High School. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Amy will also be the Athletic Director for the coming year.  Alex Audette and Michelle Anzelmo will continue to serve as Principal and Assistant Principal respectively at Major Edwards Elementary School. Kristen Nasuti also continues as TEAM for the District.

The Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) will be conducting building surveys of Major Edwards and the Middle High School in 2025. The School Survey will include site visits at approximately 1,580 schools and the compilation of existing data at approximately 120 additional schools. The School Survey will result in a published report sharing an understanding of the building condition and general environment at these schools. The compiled information will be beneficial to the planning for capital needs.

Additionally, the District submitted a Statement of Interest (SOI) to the Massachusetts School Building Authority in March 2024 for the potential building of a new Middle High School,  A “Senior Study” visit was conducted in September 2023 in order for MSBA representatives and consultants to review the building facilities. The MSBA representatives recommended the District submit another SOI, which would include new grade reconfigurations (Major Edwards PreK-6 and Middle High 7-12) as a component of the potential new building project. The District adhered to their request in the March 2024 submission.

The West Boylston Public Schools seek to hire and retain talented educators who are committed to continual improvement, both in their own practice and in helping our schools to meet every child’s educational needs.  This year we added several new teachers who share our vision for quality education. It is my pleasure to introduce you to our recently hired staff.
