Dear families:

Vision, Hearing, Height/Weight will be conducted Tuesday 10/15/13 through Friday 10/18/13 for grades K-5.
BMI screenings will be conducted for students in grades 1+4
Postural screening for grade 5 are not currently scheduled.

These Mandatory Health Screenings are performed as per state guidelines.
Results for vision and hearing will be sent home (via US Mail) by 11/1/13 for those students with a recommendation for a referral.
If your child wears prescription lenses; please be sure he/she is wearing them to school during this week.
If your child's screen does not necessitate a referral; you will not be notified of the results. Should you wish to know the results; please contact the school nurse directly.

Results for BMI will be mailed home as per Massachusetts law.

As a reminder; all new students (regardless of grade) and students in grade K, and 4 must have a current Physical exam on file. This Physical must have been completed within the year of entry/year of the child being in that grade. Please submit a copy of his/her most recent physical exam as soon as possible; if you haven't already done so. If your 4th grade child isn't due for a Physical until later in the school year; please send it in once it has been completed.

Lastly; flu season is almost here! Protect yourself and your child; contact your child's Pediatrician to schedule a flu shot/Flu Mist today. Last seasons flu shot will not protect your child; each year the vaccine changes to afford coverage against the most prevalent circulating strains of the flu for the upcoming flu season.
